We are now looking for an experienced Warehouse Shift Manager to join our Operations team in Banbury.

The Role

As Warehouse Shift Manager, you will take responsibility for the safe, efficient and effective running of warehouse operations across your designated shift.

You will lead a team of Warehouse Supervisors, MHE Drivers and Warehouse Operatives across inbound and outbound activities, ensuring operational targets are achieved while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and people management.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a visible presence within the warehouse, supporting teams, resolving operational issues and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all inbound and outbound warehouse activity, including goods-in, put-away, picking, packing and dispatch.

  • Lead, coach and develop Warehouse Supervisors and operational teams.

  • Deliver agreed productivity, service, quality and accuracy targets.

  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and effective shift resource planning.

  • Manage attendance, timekeeping, performance and employee relations matters.

  • Maintain a strong Health & Safety culture across the operation.

  • Ensure MHE is operated safely and in line with company requirements.

  • Maintain compliance with SOPs, quality standards and audit requirements.

  • Support stock accuracy, damage reduction and high standards of housekeeping.

  • Deliver clear team briefings, toolbox talks and operational updates.

  • Ensure effective handovers between shifts.

  • Support the development of Supervisors and future operational leaders.

  • Ensure all activities relating to medicines and medical devices are carried out in accordance with Good Distribution Practice.

About You

We are looking for an experienced warehouse leader who is confident managing people and performance within a fast-paced distribution environment.

You will have:

  • Previous warehouse or distribution management experience.

  • Experience leading Supervisors and large operational teams.

  • Strong leadership, coaching and people-management skills.

  • Good knowledge of inbound, picking, packing and dispatch operations.

  • Experience working with warehouse KPIs and performance targets.

  • A strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements.

  • Experience managing attendance, performance and employee relations matters.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

  • Good problem-solving and decision-making ability.

  • The ability to remain calm and effective in a busy operational environment.

Experience within FMCG, pharmaceutical, healthcare or regulated distribution would be advantageous.
